Irreplaceable

Clouds of smoke.
Driven away.
The shadowy wisps
Of a few breaths taken.
Pounding in my heart.
My only memories
Rising in my veins.
To help the salt
Run down my face.

Irreplaceable.
Are these memories
Of a few breathless gasps
Of a few priceless memories.

Some treasured secrets that I kept.
The chest of gems I held dear.
And still do.
I have them no more.

At my bequest,
They came to me.
Disappearance now stinging clear.
Heart pounding
Mind fading.
Eyes reddening.

The time of reckoning is upon me.
I have lost much what was dear.
They held corners of my heart.
Bequeathed to me by the One.
Most irreplaceable.
Most precious.

I must strive.
I must hold on.
I must be vigilant.
Beyond all measure unheard.
There must be no more thefts of the heart.
Or the soul must crumble.
As I have in her arms.

The stolen can be replenished,
Because what the One had bequeathed,
Was from the deepest corner of her heart,
That one heart you shall hold,
Forever and more.

We'll get you a new watch... sparkly and shiny shiny and more more memories attached with it.

And the shirt will be given back to you. :-)

I love the piccy btw. :D

Oh and do I have to mention anything about the poetry??? :P

Strangely, it reminds me of the song 'Hey there Delilah'
I know the times are getting hard,
but they've got trains and planes and cars,
I'll walk to you if I had no other way.

Nice read, just hold the heart steady, separations don't last much.

Cheers,

@Enchanta :

The memories are cherished on and on.
Not simply because trinkets of worth are gone.
But because holding on to the One is ever more necessary.

Thanks, honey. I do hope so. :)

@Blasphemous Aesthete : I do believe I've heard the song but I'll surely listen to it more intently now! :D
And yes, I'm doing exactly as you've said. :)

@Jyoti : Memories, if untarnished, are the best kept treasures. :)

This would totally rock as an Agnes Obel song.
It's truly a wonderful poem.

It's just when memories start taunting you that it gets ugly.

@Antara : Just download Agnes Obel's Philharmonics. Never heard her before but whatever I now read about the album sounds amazing!

Thanks a lot. :)
I love your comments here. :)

And yeah, I don't want memories to get ugly! :-/
