Tainted Love

A dreamy beginning.
The feeling of ecstasy.
I had not been there in a long time.
Visited it after a year.
Now it's only a reason for another rhyme.

Loneliness had become a habit.
The self had become a pathetic seducer.
Morose thoughts of abandonment.
Striking new shots every other day.
Leading a retarded, lonely life in detachment.

She came suddenly like a bright flame.
A match struck in the dark.
To bring me back from the dead.
To revive me, give my soul purpose.
To free me from my chains of solitude.

Then began a wondrous new era.
An unforgettable pleasurable new time.
It was enriching, fulfilling and filled with joy.
The light had vanquished the dark.
But this was only life's major ploy.

There was a fresh breath in my lungs.
A skip in my step.
Always a smile on my face.
She had given me a second wind.
It felt heavenly every time in her tight loving embrace.

It was a time of peace and tranquility.
We had surrendered to each other.
My life was solely for her.
I had given her my heart.
And she had given me hers.

We had some beautiful moments together.
Times never to be forgotten.
Most that I relive even today.
The best phase of my life yet.
If only it did not end in dismay.

The torch had finally burnt out.
The fire of passion burnt for ten months.
To finally fizzle out in the cold draught.
Rendering all else lifeless like a mortuary.
Helpless, the past was what i sought.

Never did I understand what led to that end.
Though ponder over it I did day and night.
To no end, no ultimate conclusion.
The truth deceived me, though I looked it in the eye.
It glared back, as if to give me my ultimatum.

Never was a time more painful.
Never before had my head hurt so.
Nothing could cure my ailment.
For the pangs of lost love have no medicine.
For by then, her feelings had gone, her love was absent.

But time took care of me, as it must.
A month on after fighting a losing battle, I look on.
The past is a colourful place to visit.
Now I can think with peace again.
Love still exists, only the romance is absent.

“Moving on” is a phrase only fools use.
Because then, none would revisit their past.
But in fools' words, she has moved on and so must I.
And so, this is my final verse to my tainted lover.
Adieu to you, my dear; this is my last goodbye.

PS. This post comes on a date that would have been important. That is why the so-called wait.

At first I thought what was so special about the post that you had told me about it in advance.
But as I dug deep through the verses, I saw what you meant. Some of the best words put together specially in the last few verses.
Well done.
But don't say good bye to the poet in you, I at least won't want to lose it ever.
Stay well.
Cheers!

@Zave : thanks man.
You know, when i said that this was my best yet, i meant that in a rather rhetorical way. maybe not my best poem, i can't decide that, but certainly the one that's freed me the best.
and why in the world would i stop writing? I'm better than ever now.
I'll always write!
:)

Almost the most beautiful poem I have read so far in my life.

Why almost ?? Because "the most" is surely yet to come.

Glad you liked it, Dimi.
And yes, the most beautiful ones, meaningfully anyway, are yet to come. :-)

I visited this page again because it was a link within post... the source being "Two Ladies".

It is funny, that is all.

And again, this is a beautiful poem.
Certainly, one of your best.
